Hello All,
Has anyone ever done any projects with a wood named Anegre? I have read that it is difficult to finish. I am hoping that someone has some advice for me on finishing this wood. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Steve,
Finished a large job of anegre veneer, used pre-cat lacquer.
Thanks for the response Craig. Do you know why this wood is supposedly difficult to finish? Do you know if it would take a hand rubbed poly/oil finish? The reason I am so interested is because I bought a whole bunch off some guy for really cheap and I would like to use it for a bedroom set.
Thanks for your time Craig.
Steve
I'm not aware of any problems, but it does have a high silica content which may affect some finishing. As always, do a sample peice to make sure the finish is what you are looking for.
Craig,
Does Teak have a high silica content as well? I wonder if it will dish out extra abuse on my blades? I will give it a try. Thanks for the advice.
Steve
Hey Steve,
My experience with the wood is when in veneer form. There are no finishing problems I'm aware of nor have I encountered any. Choose the finish you like and go to work.
Good luck
SA
Thanks for the reply! To work I go!
