Yeah, I’m serious ….
I’m making some bird houses by turning out the center of some large branches, etc., etc. These branches have some really nice bark configuration and some even have some moss on them. I’d like to find some kind of clear coating (spray can type??) to seal the bark but not have to brush on. No problem if it darkens the bark, etc. The finish should be truely ‘outdoor’ worthy since these pieces will be intended for actual use as aviary habitat.
Thanks for any suggestions….

Traditional finish for rustic furniture is 1/2 boiled linseed oil/1/2 mineral spirirts.
In a recent willow chair making class I decided to go high tech and mixed up 1/2 Behr exterior tung oil finish and 1/2 mineral spirits. We sprayed it on with a cheapo sprayer($2.00).
The students loved the latter and I think it will hold out well. I've used it on exterior doors and love the stuff.

Spar varnish in an aerosol can. Most paint stores carry.
Will check it out, RW. Thanks.
