   Are you set on using a wax? You might consider a more durable finish like varnish or polyurethane. That can be applied to a bowl while it's still attached to the lathe. Just turn the lathe to a slow speed and apply the finish with a rag. A few coats and your dog should be able to start drinking!

   thanks a lot that sure did the job         the dogs thank too
