I just bought a beautiful piece of buckeye burl, it is completly dry and ready for use the dimensions are 9″ wide, 24″ long, and 1″ thick. I plan to resaw this piece into 1/4″ pieces. Does anyone have any good tips on sanding and finishing this wood. 748924

Many choices and it mostly depends on how the item you make will be used. Garnet paper sand up to 180 or 220 and a danish oil finish would bring out the natural grain....... otherwise send that gnarly wood to me and you won't have to worry about it - I'll deal with it.

I don't think danish oil is the answer, it might darken the wood to much. And for what I paid for it I don't think I will send it to you.
