I am trying to decide the best finish to put on some old mahogany from a piece I just completed, made out of mohogany boards from 1905. anyway, what finish would last the longest and not turn amber in the future? thanks for the help.

50 year old mahogany, must be nice. On some furniture made with 20 year old mahogany, I've been very happy with the Arm-R-Seal products available from Woodcraft. The satin gave the wood some nice color and it is very durable.

*Hi Robert,I usually use oils such as Tung, Danish, or Boiled linseed for most of my projects. They will darken the wood but since they absorb rather than sit on the surface, yellowing should not be an issue over time.I used tung oil on my last project in mahogony...a footstool. About 4 wiped on coats.I also like the fact that it doesnt completely seal you off from the feel of the wood.
