I’m installing a new knotty pine floor. I want to stain and then apply some protective, non-yellowing, durable, low maintenance, low gloss, finish coat or coats. What would be a good choice for finish?
I note that I have read the Waterlox material on line, and it sounds good, though expensive. The product that sounds good is Waterlox Finisher Sealer, which is a Tung Oil conbined with reisins. Do you have any remarks about this product for my floor?
Many thanks!

Tucson,
The finishsealer you asked about would be a good first coat, though not tough enough to stand up to the constant wear of foot traffic on it's own. You would need to topcoat with a varnish of some sort. This could be a urethane or phenolic resin coating.
There are also a number of water based coatings available. I would suggest finding a company in your area that supplies the firms doing floor finishes. They might be a wealth of information.
One oil based urethane I've used in the past is by Schreuder and is called Isotol. It comes in gloss and satin. It is imported by Fine Paints of Europe. It doesn't yellow as much as some urethane's. It actually has a pale violet cast to it when you first open the can. Don't be put off by that as it dries clear. They also have a thinner which is the same vehicle it is made with. A little goes a long way as it's thinning power is exceptional. It is a little different to work with as , for an oil, it sets up fairly quickly. This means you don't want to over brush it. It also is a fairly expensive product.
Concerning sheen's, do gloss for the body of the finish and then a satin or flat topcoat as desired. This will give you a better overall look.
If you can, do some samples on leftover pieces of wood. It might cost you some money for materials, but is far cheaper in the long run than doing a job by guessing at it This will invariably cost you more.
Good luck.
