Other than using a finish which contains UV protection and the finish brushed or wiped on what would you recommend? Yes, I just checked out past finishing discussion and did not find anything specific.

Here is some interesting info on that subject. The writer--Jim Kull--is the d-group host on Wood Magazine's finishing foram and the writer of most of Wood Magazine's finishing articles. Look for the thread titled "Exterior Finishes-revisited".
