I have build an adjustable back Adirondack chair out of 5/4 white oak . Any recommendations on what kind of finish to put on it as it will be an outdoor piece of furniture? Oil finish? Thank you!

Paint.
You could just leave it unfinished and let it go grey. White oak should hold up pretty well.
I’ve all but given up on outdoor furniture without paint. Everything got mildewed especially the back patio that doesn’t get much sun.
What little outdoor things I make get painted now.
I made white oak chairs years ago and put Penofin on them. After a month outdoors it still smelled and felt tacky like it hadn’t cured yet.
Boats use epoxy or paint
Alternatively get covers for everything. I recently made a cedar duckboard top for a grill cart (the base is metal up cycled from a long gone tiny Weber grill). No finish but I ordered a cover for it

I have WO patio furniture that I made several years ago. I used Penofin and some other oil product, re-coating every year for the first few years. It all turned gray anyway, and I gave up. I think deck stain might last longer, but nothing will last that long.
Mother Nature always wins, let it turn gray
...''Boats use epoxy or paint''... really ?
