My husband and I are going to be installing pine tongue & groove and pine doors in our new mountain cabin. We want to finish them in a light golden or honey color. We are new to wood finishing. Given the large area of the ceiling we would like to minimize the amount of work. Do the “one-step” stain that combine the stain with the Urathane finispolyurathanehanene step really work, such as Olympic One-Step or Minwax Polyshades? If not, what would be the easiest/best way to go? Any product recommendations? Would it be better to finish each plank before installing it in the ceiling or should we wait until it is installed and then finish it? Any advice would be appreciated! 🙂

The stain and seal finishs work for what you have in mind. Do yourself a favor and finish the project before installation.
