I started to shape a walnut cabriole leg and discovered a void, probably from a sucker branch. I have too much time and work invested to start over. The void is about 1/8″ wide, 1/8″ deep, and 1 1/4″ long. I have heard of filling it with epoxy and saw dust from a sander. What is the procedure for this? Or, is there a better way to fix this?

Hi Gary,
Not to worry. The technique you described will do a fine job of disguising the void. The trick is getting the color to blend or look like a natural blemish. There are few different materials you can choose from.
- Epoxy
- Shellac Burn-in Stick
- Cyanoacrylate and Dust
