Hi everyone,
I’m in the process of finishing two small raised panel doors. I would like to know the procedure of finishing before or after assembling the doors. For the stain, I’m using water soluble anyline dye followed with poly.
Do you think you can glue up wood already dyed with anyline.
Have a good evening and thanks in advance for your time to respond,
pierre

Pierre, the water dye won't effect the glue other than bleed into it a little. The only issue with raised panels is the movement of the panel. Just dye the raised portion of the panels before gluing up. This will keep bare wood from showing later and will allow you to sand and clean up after assembling the doors. You can seal the dye on the edges of the panels if you want, particularly if a second application of dye will darken them too much.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
Thanks Hammer1...you've been a great help. It'll save me a lot of frustrations and time.have a good eveningpierre
