Finishing the inside of a box for a precious book
I am building a storage box for an heirloom family bible and would appreciate suggestions about the best finish to use for the inside of the box. I want to avoid anything that could transfer an odour or off-gas vapours that might harm the book itself. Thanks.

Archivists won't put rare books on or in wooden containers or shelves. Only metal, so it won't react.
I'd think about lining the box with acid free mat material that picture framers use.
Shellac, or bare.
