Hi, im new to these forums and also new to woodworking in general. i have a very nice shop thanks to my dad also being a woodworker. i have been very interested in woodturning recently.
I would like to make a candle holder as presents for some of my family. i would like to turn somthing and then either place a candle inside or pour the wax in directly. Is there any sort of a fire retardent finish i could use so i dont burn my relatives houses down? or should i stay away from this completely. your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Most paint stores will stock a fire retardant finish, which does just that, slows down the rate at which the wood will burn but nothing more.
