Help, I am building my own fireplace mantle and am using crown molding under the mantle shelf. I can’ seem to figure what angles to cut the crown molding at to get a perfect match at the corners. I need to make the cuts on my table saw as I don’t have a compound miter saw. It’s probably simple but I can’t figure it out. Can anyone help this beginner out.

The trick to cutting crown molding is to cut it upside down. If you had a miter saw, you'd put the top edge down on the base of the saw, with the back edge against the back edge of the saw. Then you'd rotate the blade to the correct angle and cut.
To do this on a table saw, make a jig. Take two flat pieces of plywood whose length is a couple inches shorter than the distance from your blade to the edge of the table, and whose width is a little wider than the molding. Fasten them together to form an "L". Attach (or hold carefully) the jig to the miter gauge with one leg flat on the table in front of the miter gauge, and the other leg vertical against the face of the gauge. Set the angle of your miter gauge to half the angle of the corner, usually 45°. Place the stock in the jig upside down, hold tightly, and cut away.
The more precisely you make and use the jig the tighter your joints will fit.
If you had many cuts to do you could jazz up the jig to make it better.
Thanks , I'll give it shot.
I know you're using a TS, but my Makita SCMS came with a handy cheat sheet with the angles needed to dial in your saw for different crown situations. Maybe it'll help, so here is a link:

Makes my head hurt to try to figure them, sounds like Waynes method is easy.
