I was at a woodworking show today and looked at a Fisch 17 1/2 drill press. It seemed very nice and smooth. No detectable runout. They wanted 359 for a new one, and if I were to take the one at the show, he would sell it for 329. Anybody here know anything about the brand?

Here in Canada, the same drill press is sold as a Delta. I have one and am happy with it except for the following: I find the three arms to be unnecessarily long, and liable to interfere with a long workpiece, if one sets up for a deep bore. I also find the vibration of the plastic cover induced by the motor to be annoying. The latter may be less of an issue on the Fisch, which I believe has a metal cover.
Otherwise, I am happy with the tool.
Cheers.

Hello bones -------- I have two pieces of Fisch machinery. The bench top mortising machine and the 16" band saw. I have been pleased with both.
