What is your method for fitting a drawer front to the case opening, when the drawer has a cock bead? I have in the past, unfortunately, had to plane the cock bead to adjust for minor variations in the case opening. This results in variation in thickness of the bead, which you don’t want. Also, if the bead is nailed onto the drawer front, yooou don’t hae much thickness to hand plane before your plane iron hits a nail. I have tried putting the drawer front in the opening with two shims, equal to the cock bead thickness, and trimming the drawer front itself on the tablesaw, but I never seem to get it exactly, especially if the casee is slightly out of square. Of course, the goal is to be perfectly square, but in real life, this doesn’t always happen.

How about temporarily attaching the beading to the drawer opening, trimming the drawer to size, then attaching the beading to the drawer?
Jeff
I fit the drawer to the opening first, then rabbet the drawer front for the cock beading.

Double Ditto.
Make the cockbeading. Then size the drawer to desired finished clearance. Make a rebate deep enough to just accept the cockbeading, allowing for a smidgen of scraping after gluing the cockbead. The end result should be a drawer, with cockbeads, that has the desired clearance (usually a weak 16th in my shop).
