I have a really nice Record jack plane. It was dropped on a concrete floor and a hairline crack appeared at the corner of the mouth af the plane and now the sole is not flat at that corner. Can I fix this by brazing the crack and then reflatten the sole.

casting repair
I'm not sure about brazing, but at least one "old iron" person here welds cast iron (with special techniques) regularly. From your description, however, it sounds like there may be internal stresses in the casting that might prove problematic. Thus, the repair/toss decision may depend on the vintage of the plane.
brazing will be fine
as long as one knows how to braze cast. it is the preheating that makes it work. I can't remember how many old ford a/trans cases that whe brazed up that had cracked(in the mid 60's) and never to be a problem again. there are electric methods as well one of which use to use nirod. I imagine that there are newer processes now.
the main stress to these planes cracking when dropped is meeting the cement floor. they were not designed for that purpose.
