Anyone sell it?
I am Adding a canopy rail to the top of a pencil post bed and when I test a satin finish it is too glossy.
the bed is new and factory done but has less gloss than satin.
Any company sell flat (no gloss) varnish?

What you got from a factory is probably not varnish, but most likely lacquer.
It is probably precatalized lacquer, in fact, or maybe conversion varnish, which is actually more like lacquer than varnish (kind of a plastic lacquer).
I think that Jet Spray makes flat lacquer in a spray can. You can even get sanding sealer.

Ed,
Behlen makes a product called flattening agent that you add to your gloss finish which dulls it back. The more you add the more dull it gets. I'm not sure if varnish is one of the finishes it can be added to, but if it is, then you could use the varnish of your choice and dull it to your liking. I believe I got a quart from Woodworker's Supply a few years back. As a side note, all finishes start off gloss and this flattening agent or a product similar to it is added to make semi gloss and satin or dull versions. Usually the product is mostly silica, or finely ground glass. If you go this route, make sure to stir the concotion well before you start using it, and during the application as the silica tends to settle to the bottom of the can after a period of time.
Good luck,
Lee
