I have 2 1/4″ thick 20″ x 8″ pieces of figured wood that I would like to use as panels in two doors. The pieces have developed some warp over the years and I am trying to figure out the best way to flatten them or if I even need to? Could I just route the grooves in the stiles and rails and use them to flatten the planels? What do you recommend?

1/4" material is too flexible
1/4" material is too flexible to flatten on a jointer. Try gluing up the pieces with cauls on both faces to keep the boards aligned. Depending on how bad the pieces are, it may work as a panel or may not. Might as well give it a try.
Thanks for the reply. I will give that a shot.
