The recent fluorescent light discussion has revived my interest in a much neede replaciment of the incandescent bulbs that I currently use. In Minnesota cold weather is my main concern. Like many of you I only heat the shop when I have a project going and sometime briefly enter the shop when unheated. My question is are T8 enough with a temp range to zero or should I use High Output which have temp range to -20. I always keep the shop around 60-70 degrees when I need good light? Thanks in Advance for any input. Any good places to buy these fixtures online?

Use the high out put, there worth the extra bucks, even 10 below they start fast.
Yup. The T8's will be sluggish and unreliable @ zero.
The HO's work fine in cold weather (that's what I have in my usually unheated shop).
