Hello to all,I would like to know if I got the name correct for “folding step chair” the kind that looks like a chair and flips over to turn into 2 step ladder for use in the kitchen, and which books I should look for to build one.Cheers Pete.

Welcome to Knots.
There is a book originally published in 1903 that has a few pages on one. The book calls them Chair Steps but there may be other names. There are enough dimensions on the illustrations to make the chair (or your own variation of it) if you have some experience.
It is a reprint published by Ten Speed Press, called The Handyman's Book, by Paul N. Hasluck. ISBN 1-58008-226-2
thanks for the info I am familiar with that publisher and will do some research.
did you have a chance to look up the plans? Were they acceptable? Woodmasher
No I did not receive anything except from QC Inspector about a week ago unless you are the same people if not then please reattempt.thanks Pete.
Vertis, that's the same book that I asked about in another thread. Roy Underhill built a workbench from it, it was very cool (both the workbench and, according to readers, the book.)forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
vertis,
these are often called library chairs, some are really flash. Try these for a start:
