Hi – I’m about to move into a new shop space and I want to make the concrete floor a little more foot-friendly. I’ve had foot trouble from standing on my current shop’s concrete floor all day long and I’m hoping to find some relief from it in the new place. Nothing is moved in yet so I can address the entire floor if necessary. Thanks.

This is the time to think about the floor- before you move in! If I could I would have a wood floor- it is easier on your feet and easier on tools that get dropped (my old jointer plane for example).
Having spent 18 years as a cook and a chef before I got into woodworking full time I can tell you about standing on concrete floors for countless hours!! I would recommend going to a restaurant supply store and get the biggest anti-fatique mats you can- My old shop had 4' wide mats by Teknar Apex - they are non-skid and great on your feet and they are thick enough so the edges of the mat do not curl up- which means you won't trip on them- much better than any of the mats sold in woodworking stores. Sometimes you can get factory seconds- lots cheaper.

Hey Quonset:
You should also check out this article on shop flooring options from a few years back. It details a few options...
