Hi everyone!
New to this forum but not new to woodworking.
The short story-
Made a low Japanese table out of California redwood (heartwood)
Finished with a combo of Danish oil and then a few coats of Formby’s Tung oil finish (high gloss) which I understand is not only an oil but also a varnish?
Anyway, it’s looking good but last night I applied the 4th coat and didn’t notice that some runs had developed going down the sides of the tabletop.
My question is How do I remove the runs??
Is there a way to re-liquefy the formby’s varnish or how would I fix this without stripping it?
Also, I am using 0000 steel wool between coats and plan to use Howard’s citrus shield paste wax when I’m done.
Any tips on buffing this thing out properly?
Should I avoid the steel wool and use smething else?
Pumice and rottenstone are expensive- do they really help bring out the shine vs something cheaper?
Any help appreciated and thanks!:)
