IMHO, ordering a circular blade from Amazon is a really risky proposition. Myself and a WWA forum member recently ordered a Freud blade that was on sale. We both received blades with broken teeth, returned them asking for a replacement, and the replacements also had broken teeth. These blades are packed very poorly (one box was so small the blade wouldn't even fit down properly) and are either breaking in shipping or being dropped in the warehouse. My replacement blade had at least 5 broken teeth. I stopped counting.
Wow FG,
I didn't hear about that. I bet after they loose a few thousand bucks in these returns they will ship up (so to speak).
Were you able to return the second one?Pardon my spelling,
Mike

Hi, Mike. Yes, I returned the second one, after calling Amazon and going up the ladder to a "team leader" -- someone who actually sounded over the age of 22! I let her know that there was no way these were the manufacturer's responsibility (their first choice, of course) and that the blades had obviously been damaged either at the warehouse or during shipping (based on the external appearance of tooth-marks in the Freud package.
She told me there would be an investigation conducted and that in the meantime they'd be pulling the blades out of circulation.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I've purchased several table and miter saw blades from Amazon but I've noticed in recent months that Amazon has formed alliances with other sellers. All the blades I purchased from Amazon were Freud and were wrapped very well. Items from Amazon "alliance" dealers were not. I purchased a set of router bits from an alliance dealer and it came with a big chip in one of the bits but I didn't open the package right after receiving it so couldn't send it back. Regarding the credit card offer, these are really huge scams if you look at the interest rates. It is disappointing to see companies like Amazon engage in crap of this sort. Let the buyer beware!
I've ordered several blades form Silver Mill or Silver Creek Mill and they are pretty knowlageable and handle the blades with care. Oh yea their prices are very good as well.Pardon my spelling,
Mike

These blades were directly from Amazon. Sorry to hear about the router bit problem.
The thing with the credit card offer: So often, people go for the short gain (15% off if you sign up for our credit card, for instance) without giving any thought at all to their overall credit situation. Even if they don't continue to use the credit card (how many people don't, LOL!?) it's just one more line of credit and too many of those might not be a good idea.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Yes, thank you...I bought a $130.00 12" WWI for $55.00. Nice.
The issue seems to be a problem with the Freud blades and not the others. I think the packaging is just not robust enough. If they had the 40 tooth Forrest I would bite...Drew
I received an email from Amazon, as a follow-up to my complaint, indicating they will be packaging the Freud blades differently. The LU84 is back and still on sale.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I have purchased about five table saw blades previously from Amazon with out any problems...but I guess the trade off in the shipping risk is the great price. I do agree that their employees know nothing about tools. The person you talked to probably didn't know what a saw blade was....but they do have good customer service when it comes to returns.
I've ordered quite a few blades from the jungle without issue too, and read about others doing the same on a regular basis. Anytime I've had a question or concern, their CS has been pretty good. Maybe I've been lucky, but I suspect FG's issue was an exception.

....consider thinking about whether you need another credit card on your credit report. Oldest trick in the book, that.forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Tanks!
Yes, Thanks for alerting us to this deal. I just upgraded to a Mini Max sliding table saw an needed 12" blades, so I purchased several Forrest blades from Amazon and they have been delivered in perfect shape.

I just received my Forrest WWII 30T full 1/8" full kerf for $63 from Amazon.com and it is in perfect condition. It's in the standard packaging that Forrest sends out their blades in, two layers of heavy duty cardboard.
Thanks again for the heads up and the code for this blade.
Ralph
In addition to the cardboard, every Forrest blade that I've ever bought has that rubbery plastic coating on the teeth, which should help them survive any bumps and bruises.

I have ordered several Forrest blades from coastal tool, and they came in cardboard & the teeth coated in the rubbery compound to protect the teeth as you mentioned. I had never seen that till I got my first Forrest. Of course, after the first one, I've never ordered another brand. (no dig on other brands, I just can't speak to them)Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
Yup, with the rubber coating also...one tooth had the rubber pushed back a little, but it had barely even poked into the cardboard.I'll never buy another brand if at all possible. I used to use the ubiquitous Freud blades, but they would chip and get dull so fast that it was a waste of my money to buy them. UMMVRalph
