Kia Ora Toutou
I wonder if it might be popular or possible to have two features implemented in the forum:
1. ARCHIVE – I should like posts over 1 year old to be archived – still visible, still linkable, but no longer possible to add comment. This will reduce the number of necromantic comments and the opportunity for spammers to access the forum. I note today some advice being given on a 15 year old post. The kitchen in question is probably kindling by now.
2. UPVOTE FEATURE – it would be really cool to have the ability to upvote comments. Sometimes people go to a lot of effort and it would be nice to be able to show appreciation without necessarily writing a comment.
Not my place to ask for other suggestions, but I’m keen to see if there is any interest in these and if FWW might be able to consider implementation.

Second..
Yes.
I love both of those ideas. In the new year we'll be looking at a lot of aspects of the website and the forum needs some love. Let's get some more ideas rolling in here!
I haven't noticed a forum category for design. I'm sure some folks would like help with it. I have said several times I don't get paid to make ugly things (I guess I should modify that to say that I rarely get paid... There was the pulpit for a church in Oak Ridge that had a cross on the front surrounded by the three-atoms-in-orbit nuclear symbol. ;-)
Not a fan of "like" buttons. They are generally overused as a lazy way to "participate" when you have nothing to add, and never seem to be balanced out with a "dislike" button.
My family has a text thread running with two people communicating and 6 others liking and loving everything. One-button "communication". Maybe I'm just getting old... whups, those damn kids are on my lawn again!! Gotta go...
A design category would be great - that is the least considered aspect when the "I just gotta build me something" strikes. This is often an orphan child in FWW generally too. A "like" button or similar?!...pleas g-d no..."lazy, overused" absolutely. FWW doesn't need "social media" as a guide...
The archive idea is definitely needed. I, along with a half dozen others, actually commented on a thread 5+ years old not having looked at the date of the original posting. If it weren't for another member finally pointing out the error of our ways I'm sure more comments would have followed.
As far as a 'like' button - I'm 62 years old and have never used one and doubt I ever will.
Interested would be a better way to upvote rather the word "like." I have interest in a lot of topics that I have little experience or knowledge. I would not have a useful comment to add but maybe I want to show I have interest in the topic. I never did prefer to use the like button but "interest" describes upvote better.
I'd like to see a "design" category as well. I think design is generally misunderstood. It's more than just aesthetic considerations, it also encompasses function and ergonomics.
