I don’t have a problem with the advertising in threads. Someone, though, needs to work on the feed because the slow download of the ads slows down all the replies below the first new entry. Sometimes I’ll wait and sometimes I just head off to another web location. If this can’t be fixed, Knots is going to start losing readers/participants.

This is probably the biggest aggravation of ads. I've had the same problem at numerous other sites, including my web mail. Glad you brought it to SysOp's attention!
Larry,
I haven't noticed it with my DSL connection. I'll have to check it out when I get on the dial up. The adds are so small they really shouldn't cause that to happen. I suspect it's something else.

It's not the size of the ads, but something in the process that's serving them up. I have a cable modem, and I notice it some of the time. The first message in a thread comes up quickly, then there's a hesitation (up to a couple of seconds), then the ad and the rest of the messages in the thread come up.

Bob,I believe the problem has been fixed. I am on a high speed connection and it was very slow for a couple days. The first new post in a thread would load normally then the outline of the ad would stay blank for what seemed like minutes and the following posts wouldn't load until the ad was complete. I haven't had a problem with it since the first couple days of the ads reappearance.
This is what happens when you have a glue company as a sponsor. Everything gets sticky."Light the lamp, not the rat! Light the lamp, not the rat!!"
