FPM for woodworking Bandsaw what’s the general range.
I just acquired a project to restore an old Walker-Turner 16″ bs off of craigs list. It was made around 1948 as best I can tell from the net due to sn# 22-639 which was used for a whole run of saws. It has a 3/4HP GE motor thats really old and still runs but I’m looking to possibly upgrade to a bigger driver like a 2hp Baldor or Leeson. One of the things I know is to consider the feet per minute of the blade. What is generally accepted as an optimal range for ww BS. I’ll adjust the driver pully accordingly. The belt pully is 6.75″. Just curious.

Blade Information
I use Viking blades from Woodworkers Haven. He and many others have online information. His chart sys 3800 SFPM for a 16" wheel. Suffolk offer the same guideline.
