Hello(Freud guy?); Can the cutters on this bit be removed and put on upside down? Not exactly upside down but in reverse order. I’ve already glued some subassemblies together and can’t reach where I have to put the profile unless the bit was reversed. I don’t like experimenting with such things as there could be something way wrong with doing this that wouldn’t be obvious till the wood hit the spinning bit. Duke

You're looking for Charles. I'll drop him a line to give him a heads-up.

Yes, you can remove the cutters from the arbor of the 99-051 and put the straight cutter on first, then the bearing and lastly the proflie cutter. There are shims between the cutters that you will need to keep track of so that when you reassemble it you are able to get the cutter spacing right.

Charles: Sorry but the profile cutter won't work reversed. To get the profile right the blade is backwards, facing the wrong way. I did the swap but before trying it I could see it was not going to work. I think, however, it can be done with the other cutter if I can get it high enough on my router table, the other cut is just a rabbit. KDMKenneth Duke Masters

I'm not following what the application is but I hope you are able to safely accomplish it. We recommend 80% of the shank in the collet.

Charles: What do you think about these router bit extensions? The wood in question is w.r. cedar so not a lot of force will be required. My only other option is to remake the assembles and of course remember next time to think ahead before gluing.

I've never used an extension so I can't recommend it. It would have to cause additional runout. This could result in undesirable "whip" at the end of the bit.
