I made a walnut framed glass panel box and finished the walnut with Formby’s Tung Oil. All of the glass panels cleaned up nicely except for one Side of one panel. It looks as if it was intentionally frosted-uniformly across the glass. I tried mineral spirits, household cleansers, a razor blade and most recently, a turpentine substitute soaked 4 O steel wood pad. It has improved a little but is not completely clear.
Any thoughts on how to clean the glass would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I assume that the mirror wasn't like that before you built the box? I don't see how Tung Oil could be the culprit. It sounds almost like it is an actual frosted piece of glass. From your description it sounds to me like the abrasive action of the 0000 steel wool is probably what caused the slight improvement that you describe. That tells me that either the glass really is frosted or you've got something on there that hasn't been affected by any of the solvents that you've tried thus far. Again... I don't see how the Tung Oil could be the culprit here. So, it's gotta be something else.

Hey WiddyWiddy,
I wondering as Kevin is if the glass was already frosted. The term frosted is a laymans term for sand-blasted glass. Check to see if one side of the glass is duller or more textured then the other side. If it is - it's sand-blasted glass and should be changed so all the glass will match.
