My church is looking to build a Noah’s Ark playhouse and I have been unable to find a set of plans. Most plans are for miniature playsets. Does anyone have any ideas or leads? The structures I have seen at other churches are approximately 20 feet long and I have priced the full size units at anywhere from $4,000 – $6,000. Thank you.

Dear Robina,
As I recall the plans are in the book of Genisis Chapter 6:
14"Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and shall cover it inside and out with pitch.
15"This is how you shall make it: the length of the ark three hundred [a]cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.
16"You shall make a window for the ark, and finish it to a cubit from the top; and set the door of the ark in the side of it; you shall make it with lower, second, and third decks.
I hope that you have the room as it is a fairly large vessel. I am guessing that the gopher wood should be available, but getting a tape meausre in cubits & spans may be a bit of a challenge.

Isn't a cubit something like the length from your elbow to the tip of your middle finger--18" or so?
Dear Getting,That's my understanding, which is convenient, because its pretty unlikely that I'll misplace my arm. The only drawback might be laying things out with some who is of different stature.Best,John
here is the link to an ark like we want to build http://www.sweetland-outdoor.com/playhouses/NoahsArk/na_house.htm but thanks for your thoughts.
Dear Rob,
I was, of course, kidding, but how big is "full size"? Best,John
I think that most of the playhouses we have seen are about 10' wide and 20' long....
All that John sez is true,
And Moses upon contemplation ask God, God what's a cubit!

I could not find any large scale plans on the Net.
However if you have a idea of what you want why not just scale it to the actual Ark dimensions. However using the original dimensions would still make a pretty long/wide playhouse if you keep to scale for several children to play in it.
I would start by finding out the space available and see if you can take pictures of those you saw. You could even scale it from the pictures if you place a yard stick or other reference in the picture.
Sounds like a fun project. Good luck.
One link I found with some info.
