I have pulled over 1000 bd/ft of mahogany out of the garbage. It was in the form of packing crates from Indonesia. There is a good chance that the crates were fumigated before shipping. Is this a problem? Will the stuff have evaporated? UV light?
cheers

I'd think that if the stuff in the crates was safe to use then the crates themselves would be safe. When grain is loaded into railcars fumigation paks are put in also. IIRC, the cars only have to have the hatches for about an hour to disipate the gas. Nut crops are fumigated regularly to keep down the bugs. Bug-chewed nuts get turned into pieces, slivers, slices, chopped nuts, etc.
