In the current FWW #219, the tool test “Smoothing Planes” piece by Chris Gochnour lists an ECE Primus 711. This looks like a Primus Reform Smooth plane shown in a LV catalog, and is exactly like the one I have had for twenty years or so. But I can’t find any number on my plane and LV does not give it a number either. Any idea where this number came from? Mine looks like the one in FWW and has the same lignum vitae sole and the same chrome/vanadium blade. It has an adjustable throat too. But the 711 is a mystery. Are they selling them at that famous convenience store now?

Here is a link to the ECE website. http://www.ecemmerich.com/primus-hobel.html
The Primus 711 is their adjustable mouth smoothing plane with their proprietary adjuster. I have no idea how many years they have been making this plane. It is possible they have assigned new model numbers to planes they have made for years. You can contact E.C. Emmerich directly through their website and ask them.

That's it.
Yep that's the one I have, the 711. Thanks for the link. Back when I bought it I think it was just called the smoother. No number on the plane that I can find. Thanks again.
