   contacting John White

   If you scroll down to the Archive section, you'll see the following note:  "John White's no longer taking community questions."

   So, I'm not sure if he monitors Knots any longer.

   If there is a sketchup plan of the miter saw stand, try posting there, sometimes the guy who drew plans for John White will answer questions.

   Just post your question in the sketchup forum.  Dave Richards is a regular there and he did some of John White's projects on sketchup for FWW, such as the Newfangled Workbench, and my guess is he would know.
