Buy a PC? ;-)

Mike said I should buy a PC. But, then I would have to spend so much on anti spy, anti virus, anti spam, etc., etc, I wouldn't have any money left to buy (of course, I really mean "invest") in tools for my shop. No, I don't know what format FWW's videos are in.
You really think that Macs are not vulnerable to trojans, virus' and so on?
Better life through Zoodles and poutine...
> You really think that Macs are not vulnerable to trojans, virus' and so on?hi everyone,
let's avoid the religious wars, please? of course macs are vulnerable, but the OS they're built on is un*x-like, very different from windows, and thus require different techniques. since the mac has a lesser market-share, the hacker isn't as likely to be interested. a wise person once said: a skilled robber can break into anyone's house, the trick, therefore, is to make your house less attractive to break-in than others on your block.hope the original poster gets the video problem resolved.cheers,
bert
if it's worth doing at all, then it's worth doing well.
I have yet to see any Windows user get religion about the OS.Over to you ;-)

Amen..

Ah, Doc, whataspoilsport, just when i was thinking it was getting a little mellow here . . .
BUT ya gotta admit that Mike's "buy a PC" comment was rotflmao hilarious!
Peter:I really do not want to start a Mac vs. PC jihad! But, I do not believe that there is a single example, out in the wild, of a virus or trojan that can take over the Mac without the user's involvement. While I accept that any operating system must have vulnerabilities, for some reason these have not been a problem for Mac users. Of course, that could change.Regards,Hastings

Do you know what format they are in?
hi,
if they'll play on a pc, then they're probably in a windows media format. look for the "flip4mac" plug-in which will do the in-line conversion for quick-time. i haven't tried the FWW videos, but have had success with many other codecs. you might also need to load a different video player, like VLC, if the video isn't a windows format (eg, divx). hope this helps,
bert
I didn't have any problem playing the videos while I was running 10.4.11 on my G5. The videos on this site are Flash. It is possible that downloading the latest version of Flash might help:

Thank you. Your tip cured my problem.Peppers
You received good advice on the fix. Bill Gates knows the Apple OS system is superior to the PC. He just did a better job marketing to industry along with the big buy-in from IBM.
Macs rule. The G-5 is a great piece of hardwareThe FWW videos are absolutely superb and a treasure trove of info.

I've had no problems watching FW video clips on a Mac PowerPC G3 running OSX 10.4.11 or on an Intel Core 2 Duo running OSX 10.5.2, so you should be ok.
