I have been reading the past posts on using the Grizzly G0540 as a slot mortiser. That said, I was hoping to get some comments from people who have bought the machine and used it. I have a project coming up that is going to require lots of mortises, so I would appreciate any comments – good, bad or otherwise. Also, what type of bits have you had the best success with. Mill ends? Two-flute? Four-flute? Up-cut router bits? Gimme’ the scoop.

Been using slot mortisers for over 25 years and at the rpm of 3.600 the best bits are HSS endmills 2 flute for machining aluminum.
