I don't have any plans but have built 2 in the last year for clients. The one thing that I have always done is use 6x6 for posts and set them in concrete with a footing below the frost line. To locate the position of the posts I make a frame from 1x6. For a 12 ft octagon I use 4 pieces of 1x6 12 ft long minus the size of the posts. Put a bolt at the middle of each of the 12 ft long pieces and bolt them together . I then square off the first two pieces by measuring from a center point on each end or leg until you have a perfect square and then center the remaining 4 legs . Use bracing to hold the through pieces in the proper position to form an octagon. I am sure there are other ways but this has worked for me.

Are you in South Alabama? I'm getting ready to tear one down ;-) No termites, just in an inconvenient place and we don't want the darned thing any more.
No, I'm in another part of the country the Northwest namely Tacoma, Washington.
