Is it true that more than one coat of Gel stain may lead to adhesion problems (ie. with the poly topcoat)

I cannot answer that with conviction. I have never used more than one coat with gel-stain. What I will guess is though, that if you apply a secon coat and scuff it with say 000 steel wool or equilvalent in synthetic steel wool; I bet it will adhere.
I paint a lot with gloss Porch and Floor on shop tables, benches, etc. I always scuff between coats lightly or the problem with adhesion can and will occur.
You've go my curiousity up now. I will try it today or tomorrow to see. ha..ha..

No, not true.
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
Ditto what FG said.
Think about it for a second... If gel stain couldn't be topped with gel stain without incurring adhesion problems, then gel stain couldn't be topped with anything without incurring adhesion problems. However, one does need to make sure that the gel stain, however many coats of it, is completely dry before coating it with finish.

Kevin
