Received my new saw this week !
Have gotten it downstairs to t he shopand starting to put it together. As i had heard , their manuals well , belong in the bathroom. My problem is the front rail for the fence, there are holes drilled in it, unfortunately they dont line up with anything!
The top only has 4 hole drilled in it along the front , a threaded one, two unthreaded, and another unthreaded. they dont line up with anything either, the manual says to clamp to the top , and drill 14 holes in it??????? Are they for real? Souldnt general have taken care of that at the factory? I was kiinda hoping for just a bolt together application, not a kit!
Have the other general owners out there had tis same experience?
Thanxin advance Eric

Hey Eric,
That's what I thought too. I even went back to the store to look at one. It does work. Ignore the threads, you need to use the top of the larger hole and use the guide for spacing. I do agree that the directions stink, and they really should have made the table top w/ holes that are correctly spaced, buy once you are over this fustration you will be happy w/ the saw.
Cheeers,

Could the table still be set up for the older pipe style fence and they have not updated the assembly line for the t style?
I agree with Rich. Don't get stressed out, just line up the larger front rail with the front of the saw. Your fence guide will have a 4" overhang at the left side but your rail will be even with the left side of the saw. You will see that there will be four of the holes in the rail that will match the holes in your saw table if you are in alignment with the supplied 90 degree allignment template. Don't drill, just match. Use the screws, washer, and nuts. I did not have to drill any holes and once I figured out the way it works (after going back to the store and looking like Rich did) it was very easy. In my case, the manual was not much use either. It looks like the manual for the fence attempts to address older saws, different General saws, and competitive saws, all at the same time and fails at the whole explanation process as a result.
The good news is that this is the only hard part that I encountered about setting up this saw. It is an excellent piece of equipment.

I agree with DM. Once you figure out the fence, the saw is great. Had one for about 4 years.
