I just finished setting up an old General 160 in my shop today, and since it’s old and dirty I’d like to repaint it. right now it’s grey, (from what i’ve heard generals have been green for a loooong time) and there are lots of stains that aren’t going to come off. what i was wondering is has anyone found a certain brand of spray paint that matches generals green, and where would i buy it? i’ve never been able to find a decent match among all of the different colors of spray paint that i’ve looked at. thanks in advance

I could be wrong, but I would think you could contact General and buy from them.

If General can't supply, you might go to a local supply for Body Shops ( Auto Color, etc. ) and they might be able to mix it. You would probaly have to have a picture of a General machine for them to get an idea if they can.
Good luck...

The 2003 General International catalog lists General's machinery paint at page 105: Item #GP-001, a 420 ml can of green spray paint; and Item #GP-002, an 80 ml can of green paint. General's telephone numbers, per the catalog, are: 514-326-1161; FAX - 514-326-5555. It's web site is: http://www.general.ca; it's e-mail address is: [email protected].
A friend of mine found a John Deere green that closly matched the original. Another thing you can do is take a piece , preferably flat to an auto paint supply. If they can get an optical scanner on it they can match the paint perfectly. Even without the scanner they can come close from the color chips in the books Pete
You also might find that some of the industrial suppliers like Grainger carry manufacturers paints by name. Bridgeport, Cincinnati, John Deere, Kubota, etc.
Might try http://www.oldwwmachines.com/
They are dedicated to the restoration of old ww machines, like yours...

And most auto body paint stores can put what they just matched into an aerosol can if you don't want to hook up the spray gun.
