General model 690 bandsaw power requirements
I just purchased an older general model 690 bandsaw in perfect condition and I am running a new service to it. I need to know if I should run a 240v 30amp or 50amp service. I assume it’s 30amp but the plug is for either or and I can’t find any info in the manual on it.

Vintage Machinery dot org has a manual for the 690 online. It says it's a 15 inch bandsaw and the motor was sold separately. The manual recommended a 1/2 hp motor for general use.
The power requirements for your particular saw will depend on which motor was installed.
Is there an information plate on the motor?
I know that's what it says but standard it comes with a 1.5 hp motor they have a review on finewoodworking.com but the amperage is NA
1.5 hp on 240V will draw roughly 10 amp at full load, a 15 amp/240V service will suffice.
If this is a new circuit, just to run the bandsaw, 12 gauge wire for a 20 amp service is more than ample.
If fishing the wire from the bandsaw to the service panel is at all difficult, consider running a second cable at the same time, for future needs. Running a second cable isn't much more effort or expense than just one.
