Anyone out there that has a General 50-220 table saw ever had to replace the bearings? I have had mine less that a year and has seen very light usage, and there is a slight intermittent knocking sound when I manually rotate the belt. It also seems to not be as running so smoothly as when I first got it, but that may be I have forgotten how noisy the old one was. The arbor seems very tight and all, just the odd clunk here and there.
I would think sealed bearings would last longer than this..

They should last longer than that. Have you tried rotating different parts without the belt on to see where exactly the sound comes from?

Not yet; I just noticed the noise, but you are right, that would be the next step. It does it when it either coasts to a stop, or if I rotate the belt by hand slowly. I'll check that next...
Some motors with centrifugal switches make sounds at low speed. I've got an old Rockwell 1/2 HP that makes a clickety-clickety sound below running speed. Often, you get a click followed by the sound as the motor winds down. That wouldn't explain a new noise though.Pete

Sounds to me like you may have a slightly loose pully. The motor is constantly pulsing and when a pully come lose it makes a noise when it hits the key pin in the drive shafts.
