I was using some wax to lubricate some screws and some got smeared on the unfinished wood. Mineral spirits and a rag didn’t get it o. Any suggestions what to do next?
Thanks,
Frank

Frank,
What wax did you use? I've never seen wax that didn't repond to mineral spirits (or the like - naphtha). I don't think it would hurt to try other solvents on the wood - lacquer thinner, acetone. Are there silicones in the wax?
Rich
frank, use lacquer thinners, several times. Use a cotton bud with it-- those small sticks with a wrapping of cotton wool at either end, and draw the wax out rather than smearing it around.
If you don't have lacquer thinners, use alcohol-- which is what I'm drinking now seeing as it's past 9 here and it's not Thanksgiving either, ha, ha-- ha, ha, ha. Slainte.
SD and Rich,
Thanks for you replies. It was "Bowling Alley Wax". I will try the laquer thinner. If it doesn't work I guess I can sand the whole thing again.
Regards,
Frank
BIS, try drycleaning fluid Carbona being one choice. Used to use Carbon teclachloride, but it turns out it's highly toxic Steinmetz

Hmmm....
Let's see...if I remember right...wax ON is clockwise...wax OFF is counterclockwise...
