Does anyone know how thick glass shelves should be if the shelves are 10inches deep by 40inches wide? They will hold some glassware and bottles of sort in a residential setting.
Thanx, Lou

Check with your glass supplies. I have 8" deep x 44" wide x 3/8" shelves, supported in from each side about 6" unsupported span is 32" and I put G gauge trains on them that weigh about 8-12 lbs. each. Make sure they polish all sides.
Lou,
For the medium load you describe I'd say 5/16" is enough. If you want to play it safe, 3/8" will definitely hold anything they're likely to put on it anytime.
