Does anyone have experience applying a “glaze” type finish on Maple? This is a finish often seen on kitchen cabinets where the wood grain still shows through, but the variations in the grain are somewhat muted? I’m planning to build a cabinet for my big screen TV followed by kitchen cabinets. My wife insists they be the same finish since the kitchen/den are connected. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for your help….

There are a couple of good suppliers that come to mind;

Either of these two will help you from start to end including supplying the materials.
You need to have a good idea of the color you want in the final product before starting. Depending on the color, you may be advised to first apply a dye to the maple to bring out the grain and add the first level/layer of color. The glaze is applied over a seal coat and makes the color more intense and even. Then your clearcoats (topcoats) are applied over the glaze.
There are a number of choices of materials and the guys at these web sites can help you pick ones that will achieve the results you want and match your equipment and skills.
