Howdy,
I have a moderately complicated glue up, it’s an outdoor piece constructed out of mahogany. I have a new bottle of Gorilla Glue but in all honesty I really hate using that stuff because of the mess… but it does work well and has a long open time.
However, I noticed that I have a gallon of Unibond 800 that’s about a year and a half old, probably outside the limit but it’s been stored cool, dry and dark.
What’s the consensus on using that Unibond for my glue up?
Thanks much,
WM

Unibond 800 is an excellent exterior adhesive. But, I don't know how good it will be when it has aged that much. Check with the manufacturer.
You can find an epoxy that will give you practically any open time you need, depending on which catalyst is selected. But epoxy is about as messy as any glue--but at least it doesn't foam.
Thanks Howard and Steve. Appreciate the quick response.
Based on my own experience, and the current FWW, I'd stay away from poly (that monkey brand) - it's weak and messy.
That review was devastating for "the world's strongest glue". I hate the stuff because of the mess and now I have another reason to disregard it.I wonder what will happen to their advertising in FWW?Frosty
See my comments in the "Magazine Feedback" forum. I think the tests were flawed.Howie.........
I did the glue up in the morning... the mailman delivered that issue literally that afternoon. However, I did read Howie's comment in the magazine feedback thread and I am going to hold off judgment until I see more details on the clamping process used in this review.
