Hi all
Im currently building a set of benches from teak. I know that due to it’s oily nature it is difficult to glue. I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion regarding the type of glue that works well on this material. I was thinking of either “Gorilla Glue” or a long cure epoxy. I thought that the epoxy might be a good choice for this project since i will be gluing dowels for the joinery and i have heard that epoxy acts like a lubricant when trying to fit extra tight joinery. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Ted

Gorilla (polyurethane) Glue will be much cheaper than epoxy, match the wood better, and allow a thinner glue line; i've had epoxy leave a black glue line in teak.
Poly glue also allows plenty of glue-up time if you have a fussy construction, plus it's way slick enough to lube the dowels.
Hello tboss,
Don't forget to wipe down the pieces of teak with denatured alcohol to remove the wood oils before applying your adhesive.
