I am trying a few light items in walnut (like trays or boxes); what type glue will do for this dark wood? I am afraid the Titebond yellow glue will leave a distinctive glue mark, but I may be wrong about this.

Its not the glue but the amount of squeeze out Don't pull a Norm and wipe off with a wet cloth, pare or scrape the squeeze out when it has turned rubbery.Try Titebond Wood Moulding Glue
Titebond makes a walnut "colored" glue that has less chance of showing. If you make good, tight joints and carefully remove any excess prior to finishing this is not a problem. I've worked with walnut many times, it's my favorite domestic hardwood, and any time glue has shown up it means I wasn't diligent enough prior to finishing. I need to find a method to make the small amounts appear; my eyes aren't what they used to be. (Neither is much of anything else!)

Titebond works just fine for walnut. The other posts are correct in pointing out good glueup practices.

Walnut is my favorite wood too. Love that color. I've been using the dark Titebond or Elmer's for years.
Enjoy, Roy
Thanks for all your comments; I will try the darker Titebond.
