All,
Having just completed making a set of raised panel doors where some of the panels, were glued to make the correct width, I began to wonder about using glue line bits. Would I benefit from their usage and do they provide any real advantage when edge gluing stock?
Thanks in advance,

In a raised panel, you'd get an odd-looking glue line where the tapered edge of the panel cut through the profile.

Thanks for the reply. I had not thought about the effects of a glue line bit on the sloping sides and ends of the panel.

The undisciplined life is not worth examining.
The glue lines made by a standard bit will telegraph in the profile of a raised panel so we make a glue bit just for this application that disguises the line in the grain pattern with most profiles:

While I do use a glue line router bit on larger panels, making raised panels usually involves smaller overall sizes. With straight, square edges, glue alone is more than enough for most raised panel doors.
