Hi
Any recommendations on a good glue for joining steam bent strips? I will be edge joining 1/4 inch strips around a fairly easy radius so only light steaming required (Iron and a damp cloth)
Perhaps Gorilla glue???
Cheers
John

Unibond 800.
It's a 2-part glue but it has forgiving mix ratios.
Springback is the primary issue with bent lamination (opinion) and Unibond does nice job of limiting it. It also has decent gap filling properties if you have voids (you shouldn't, but you might with 1/4 lam's, depending on the radius). And unlike PVA yellow glue (containing water), Unibond does not "creep" from the laminations.
I've used it for bent laminations (steam) and in 2-part bending forms (dry).
It's good stuff...
I've used Dap Resorcinal which I think is similar to the Unibond. I did 13 lams of about 3/16 each over a relatively gentle curve. I found it difficult to get all 13 laminations coated before the first began to dry. It turned out OK, but I was sweating bullets. Next time, I think I'll use epoxy with an extra slow hardener for long open time.
John, we like to use Weldwood Plastic Resin glue when springback might be an issue. http://www.dap.com/product_details.aspx?product_id=42Here's a moon gate we recently did with a 3'6" radius. Had no springback at all. http://woodsshop.com/MoonGate/HowtoBuildaMoonGate.htmAfter planing both sides we went back and filled some small seams with the same glue.http://www.woodsshop.com
