I was gluing up a coffee table base yesterday using splined miters between the apron and the legs. The 1 1/4″ thick legs are at 45 degrees from the apron boards. Everything fit great during dry fit. I dicided to use Titebond III. I applied the glue and when I started assembly the glue had caused the wood to swell so much that I couldn’t get the splines and slot to go together. Once I realized this, I quickly pulled everything apart. I now have dried glue on all the joints. I know that the Titebond will not adhere to itself at this point. What type of glue should I use at this point? I was thinking epoxy. Any recommendations would be helpful.

why not just remove all the glue with sandpaper?
jsul,
Best to clean off the dried glue. Plane or scrape the flat surfaces, recut the slots for the splines, slightly larger. Make new splines, correctly fitted to the new slots using your newfound knowledge. Re assemble, using the glue of your choice.
